alright im going to throw it out there that Im going to be at pandemonium tonight around 7 to playtest/pick up some cards. if something happens somewhere else let me know otherwise ill see you guys there

i have that standard boss naya deck together, but dont think ill be lured into the t2 tournie.


Eric, can you either just ban CL (if it isnt you) or just stop posting as him? if it isnt you than why haven't you banned him?

Guys, dealing with a troll like Corpulent Lord is the inevitable result of holding a free internet forum. Whenever you create an open forum for the exchange of ideas on the internet you will inevitably have complete morons wasting our time and drowning out the exchange of good ideas with incoherent drivel.

If we communicate on the listserv than we will not have to deal with stupid trolls like CL because the listserv is private with a secured subscriber list. If you remember the listserv, we removed Flez from the listserv because he started a flame war with Matt and added Andrew and Justin because they have something to contribute.

Internt forums attract trolls because they are free and open places for discussion. Corpulent Lord is a troll. Therefore, as long as we have a free and open forum we will have to deal with Corpulent Lord.

Erik is right that if we ban CL he will just come back with a different username.
The realistic alternatives to dealing with Corpulent Lord will be to either make the forum private and restrict posting privileges until Erik as admin lets people post, or to just use the listserv.
Also, feel free to tell off Corpulent Lord. He is a real annoyance and if we all flame him out he may get the picture and get lost.

Chingsung that sounds like a very reasonable idea. We can definitely do that and I support controlling access, just like we controlled access to the listserv.

The only problem is that controlling posting privileges requires a lot more action and dedication by the administrator. We would need a moderator(s) who can dedicate time to reading each post and approving them for posting. The moderator would have to spend time reading each post, application for admission to the listserv, and then make decisions about what to allow and what to filter based on a number of considerations involving the genuineness of the poster, the substantive value of posting, and the appropriate timing and location of each post. So far, Erik has been a hands-off administrator which is perfectly fine and helps allow the free flow of ideas.
If you want to restrict access it will take a lot of effort and work by a moderator(s).
I'm not sure how the administration for managing privatization of the forum works. Maybe Erik can tell us.

Additionally, this kind of discussion should be happening in a different thread. This thread is supposed to be dedicated to discussing the upcoming Charlestown PTQ.
First of all, discussions about where to playtest should take place in a different thread that is dedicated to playtesting; such a thread should simply be called "playtesting" and feature posts and options for daily playtesting.
Second of all, discussions about corpulent lord and trolls in general should take place in the "off topic" section of this forum in a different thread that could be called "Trolls", "Corpulent Lord", or "Privatizing the forum".


Erik, feel free to moderate, delete posts, and relocate posts to other threads if necessary. Such measures may be necessary when we go off topic like this.
